Salisbury, MD  ·  Run by Tan & Eliza

Discount auto body.Custom everything else.

Half Fast Custom Creations is a father-daughter shop with two sides: auto body and paint work for about half what a conventional shop charges, and custom fabrication for the odd, one-off ideas other shops won't touch.

We don't aim for good.
We aim for good enough.

That sounds like a strange thing to put on a business card. Most shops sell you on quality, precision, and being the best. There are already a dozen professional body shops in this area doing exactly that — if you want factory-matched OEM paint, go see them. We're for the job right below that one, and for the stuff nobody else will even quote.

Two kinds of work

One shop, two very different specialties.

About the shop

Run by Tan and Eliza — a father-daughter shop in Salisbury.

Half Fast Custom Creations runs out of a set of small buildings behind the main shop in Salisbury, MD. Tan started it as a side hustle that got too big to stay off the books. These days, Eliza handles most of the jobs and most of the clients, and is building it toward a full-time career over the next year. For Tan, it's still very much a hobby he gets to share with his daughter.

Between the two of them, they cover a lot of ground: paint, fiberglass, welding, car audio and wiring on the automotive side, and furniture, artwork, and one-off fabrication on the other. Whether it's a discount repaint or a strange idea nobody else wants to touch, if you can describe it, there's a good chance one of them can build it.

Frequently asked

The questions we get the most.

Where is Half Fast Custom Creations located, and what areas do you serve?

We're based in Salisbury, MD, and typically serve customers within about 30 miles — Delmar, Fruitland, Pittsville, Parsonsburg, Berlin, Pocomoke City, Seaford, and the rest of the lower Eastern Shore. If you're outside that range, reach out anyway; we can often still help.

Is Half Fast Custom Creations a licensed body shop?

Half Fast is a registered Maryland LLC, run out of a set of shop buildings behind Tan's main business in Salisbury. We're not a certified collision center — we're a small, honest operation built around doing good-enough work at about half the price of a conventional shop.

How do I get a quote?

Call or text 410-251-5173, or email info@half-fast.com with a description and a few photos of what you're working with. Most jobs start with a quick conversation about what you want done.

Do you work with insurance companies after an accident?

No — we don't deal with insurance companies or perform insurance claim work after an accident. All of our auto paint and body work is cash out of pocket.

What forms of payment do you accept?

Cash only for now — no credit cards, no electronic payment. That may change down the road, but we're not there yet.

Can you provide a receipt for services?

Yes — we can provide a receipt after cash payment.

What if I pay you to do a job and I don't like the results?

It's rare, but it happens occasionally. Because our prices are low, we work to keep expectations in line with that — if you're expecting high-quality, precise results, a certified body shop or another shop is probably a better fit. Our focus is mid-grade results for mid-grade cost.

What's your normal project turnaround time?

It varies a lot depending on the project. Part of the name "Half Fast" is honest: we can't go full fast, only half fast, since there are only two of us and we both have regular jobs outside this business. Sometimes work moves quickly, sometimes it takes a while. If you're in a rush, either the price goes up for a rush job, or you should find a different shop.

What kinds of materials do you use for your projects?

We work with a wide range of materials: aluminum and steel for metal and body work, including custom welding and brazing; fiberglass repair and from-scratch fabrication using polyester and epoxy resin, on both small and large projects; laser engraving, custom vinyl cutting and printing; UV coatings and clear coats; custom woodworking; and a variety of plastics, acrylics, polycarbonate, and more.

Do you do automotive repair or mechanical work?

No — we're not a mechanic shop and don't perform mechanical work on vehicles. We do work closely with local mechanics, though, if substantial mechanical repairs are needed to complete a project.

Do you do collision repair on cars?

Yes, but only for minor collisions that don't affect mechanical or safety systems — things like fender benders and cracked bumpers. If a collision has reached a part of the vehicle required for safety or mechanical function, that has to be repaired first, before we can do the cosmetic work.

How are you able to charge about half of what other shops charge?

Lower operating costs — we don't carry the rent and utilities of a full commercial body shop — and both of us have other jobs, so we're not relying on project work for all of our income.

Got an idea?

Custom creations for the bold, the weird, and the one-of-a-kind. Reach out and describe what you're picturing — that's how every job here starts.
